GPS Tracking - Finding You
Even the venerable Austin Powers utilized some, with rather comical results. And despite the fact that we are looking through Hollywood’s scope that can definitely portray a sexier, flashier, and quite often a less than realistic picture of how things actually are in the real world, they are not far from the mark with these neat gadgets.
The global positioning system, or GPS, was first invented in the 1970s by the United States Department of Defense. The first of 24 satellites were sent into space back in 1978. The goal was to be able to be able to view everything going on, and just about everywhere. The system was designed so that at least four of the 17 foot satellites are positioned on the horizon at all times. There are six constant orbital patterns these bad boys follow, taking them around the earth is 12 hours.
GPS tracking utilizes this technology to locate and fixate on the exact location of the person, item, or vehicle to which the GPS tracking unit is attached. The satellites are able to follow the signal and transmit visual and logistical date one a regular basis, until the beacon either stops or is turned off.
